Griffin: A Clojure-Powered API-Driven Bank
Griffin, a fully-regulated, API-driven bank, is making waves in the banking-as-a-service industry. Built from the ground up using Clojure, Griffin offers Fintech businesses a secure and efficient way to integrate banking features into their platforms. In an interview with Allen Rohner, Griffin Co-founder and CTO, he explains that Griffin aims to disrupt the market by providing a more modern set of technologies and faster delivery capabilities than traditional banks. Clojure was chosen as the language of choice for the platform due to its immutability, power, and suitability for financial services. Rohner's journey to Clojure began after reading Paul Graham's writings on Lisp and startups. Initially considering Common Lisp, he ultimately embraced Clojure when it was released by Rich Hickey in 2007. With Griffin's UK banking license obtained in March 2023, they are currently in the mobilization phase and expect to complete the audit and finish writing the code by Q3 or Q4 this year. Griffin's innovative approach and use of Clojure position them as a promising player in the API-driven banking space.
